Eating is vital to our health and well-being, we eat to live. But the time you consume food is just as important as choosing the foods you consume.
Eating certain foods on an empty stomach can be detrimental to health. These include:
Coffee or tea: Although it is tempting to take a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, it is not really a better option to take it on an empty stomach. Drinking coffee or tea on an empty stomach can increase levels of hydrochloric acid to the point of causing vomiting or constipation. Increased levels of acid also slow down the digestion of proteins, which causes bloating, inflammation of the bowel, in the worst case colon cancer.
Tomatoes: Tomatoes are full of vitamins, antioxidants and soluble ingredients. However, when eaten on an empty stomach, these ingredients combine with stomach acid, which could result in blockage of the stomach. This puts pressure on the stomach and causes pain. This is especially dangerous for people who are already suffering from ulcers or acid reflux.
Bananas: Like most fruits and vegetables, bananas are loaded with fiber. As a rule, these are beneficial to health. But when there is nothing in the stomach, they can cause a large increase in magnesium levels in the blood. What is bad for cardiovascular health.
Sodas: If you drink soda on an empty stomach, this can damage the mucous membrane and reduce blood flow to the stomach. As a result, it can result in slower digestion and other complications in the abdomen.
